The "M5012" distills MATSUDA's meticulous design work into an exceptionally lightweight rimless structure.

Its geometric polygonal shape, featuring skillfully faceted edges, offers a sharp and contemporary aesthetic that sets it apart from classic rimless eyewear. By eliminating the rim surrounding the lenses, the strength of the contour is softened, allowing the distinctive shape to blend seamlessly with the face.

While the front is composed of the bare minimum of parts, the temples are adorned with intricate engraved patterns. The minimalist impression from the front contrasts with the sophisticated detailing characteristic of MATSUDA visible from the side—a quiet contrast that serves as a unique charm of this model.

The frame is crafted from lightweight titanium in Japan, meticulously balancing the airy comfort of a rimless design with the precision craftsmanship synonymous with MATSUDA.

Col. BG is "Brushed Gold," featuring a subdued luster. By applying a brushed finish to the vibrant gold, the brilliance is softened to create an elegant and gentle appearance. MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand founded in 1989 by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the designer who founded the fashion brand “NICOLE” and led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the “Top Designers Six (TD6).”

Drawing on the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated during his career as a fashion designer, Matsuda fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining the exquisite craftsmanship of skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, the brand creates eyewear with the meticulous detail and commanding presence of works of art.

The brand is defined by delicate metalwork and substantial, three-dimensional construction. Its original designs, evoking Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, transcend mere vision correction to earn worldwide acclaim as “wearable art.”

In the 1990s, the brand gained widespread support overseas after being worn by Hollywood movie stars and renowned artists. Its distinctive worldview and striking sculptural beauty captivated many celebrities and fashion icons, propelling MATSUDA to global fame.
