The "M5008 SUN" is a pair of sunglasses that combines a square shape with gently rounded corners with the airy, lightweight feel unique to a rimless design. It is a piece that retains a classic aesthetic while achieving a clean, modern look.

The minimalist front, which lacks a rim to surround the lenses, features a bridge adorned with intricate engravings. From the metal components that secure the lenses to every other detail, the piece is meticulously crafted, showcasing the delicate ornamentation characteristic of MATSUDA within a simple structure.

The frame is made of lightweight titanium, while the temples are crafted from beta-titanium for flexibility and durability. The temples are embellished with delicate engravings and translucent cloisonné that evokes the look of stained glass, subtly changing in appearance depending on how the light hits them. With the brand's iconic "M" motif featured on the nose pads and temple tips, the design is flawless down to the smallest detail.

The BG colorway is a brushed gold with a soft luster. While it possesses the vibrancy of gold, the matte finish provides a composed impression that naturally complements the airy, rimless design. Paired with blue gradient lenses, the contrast with the warm gold creates a fresh and sophisticated look.

A singular piece that is quintessentially MATSUDA, harmonizing a light, rimless structure with meticulous ornamentation and an elegant color combination of gold and blue.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand established in 1989 by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the founder of the fashion brand "NICOLE" and a designer who led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the "Top Designer Six" (TD6).

Drawing on an aesthetic sense cultivated as a fashion designer, the brand fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining the advanced craftsmanship of skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, MATSUDA creates eyewear that possesses both the precision of a craft object and an overwhelming presence.

The brand is characterized by its delicate metalwork and substantial, three-dimensional structural expressions. Its unique designs—reminiscent of Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk—have earned global acclaim not merely as vision-correction tools, but as "wearable art pieces."

In the 1990s, the brand gained significant support overseas after being worn by famous artists and featured in Hollywood films. Its unique worldview and breathtaking sculptural beauty captivated numerous celebrities and fashion icons, cementing MATSUDA’s status on the world stage.

Although the brand went on a temporary hiatus, it was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While inheriting the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the brand continues to develop collections that incorporate modern sensibilities.

Remaining steadfast in its unique aesthetic regardless of passing eras or trends, MATSUDA continues to captivate eyewear enthusiasts around the world with its fusion of Japanese artisanal technique and fashion culture.
