The "M5008 SUN" is a pair of sunglasses that combines a square shape with gently rounded corners and the lightness unique to a rimless design. It is a piece finished with a clean, modern look while retaining a classic feel.

The minimal front, which lacks a rim to surround the lenses, features a bridge with intricate engraving. Crafted with careful attention to detail—even down to the metal parts that secure the lenses—the design allows MATSUDA's signature delicate ornamentation to shine within its simple structure.

The frame is crafted from lightweight titanium, while the temples are made of beta-titanium for flexibility and durability. The temples are adorned with delicate engravings and translucent cloisonné enamel that evokes stained glass, subtly changing in appearance depending on how the light hits it. With details like the brand's iconic "M" motif on the nose pads and temple tips, the finish is impeccable down to the finest detail.

The AG color is an antique gold with the calm texture of aged metal. Its deep, understated hue harmonizes beautifully with the delicate rimless design. Paired with sage green gradient lenses, the warmth of the antique gold and the gentle green overlap to create a look that is both classic and elegant.

A quintessential MATSUDA piece, this model harmonizes a light, rimless structure with precise ornamentation and a sophisticated gold-and-green color palette.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand established in 1989 by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the founder of the fashion brand "NICOLE" and a designer who led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the "Tokyo Designers Six" (TD6).

Grounded in the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated throughout his career as a fashion designer, the brand fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining the advanced handiwork of skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, MATSUDA creates eyewear that possesses both the precision of a craft object and an overwhelming presence.

The brand is defined by its delicate metalwork and substantial, three-dimensional structural expressions. Its original designs, which evoke Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, are highly regarded around the world not merely as vision-correcting instruments, but as "wearable art."

In the 1990s, the brand gained significant support overseas after being worn in Hollywood films and by prominent artists. Its unique worldview and breathtaking sculptural beauty captivated numerous celebrities and fashion icons, catapulting the MATSUDA name to global prominence.

Although the brand went on a temporary hiatus, it was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While inheriting the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the brand continues to develop collections that incorporate modern sensibilities.

Unaffected by eras or fleeting trends, MATSUDA remains committed to its unique aesthetic. Its eyewear, a fusion of Japanese artisanal craftsmanship and fashion culture, continues to enchant eyewear enthusiasts around the globe.
