The "M3173" is a minimalist metal frame featuring a hexagonal shape.

While possessing the distinct character of a polygon, its vertical and horizontal proportions have been carefully balanced to ensure the shape is not overly bold, allowing it to blend naturally with the face.

The slim rims feature delicate arabesque engravings, complemented by fine detailing on the temples. At first glance, the design appears sleek, but the closer you look, the more you can appreciate the meticulously crafted details that are so characteristic of MATSUDA.

A distinctive feature is the bridge, which extends from the front and back of the rims to overlap. The unique, three-dimensional lines are also engraved, serving as a subtle accent to the simple front.

Color MBK is a low-gloss matte black. It gives the polygonal outline a sharp, defined look while maintaining the lightness inherent to slim metal frames, resulting in a refined appearance. The detailing also appears understated, making this color easy to incorporate into simple styles.

A pair that combines a distinctive hexagonal shape with an everyday simplicity. Easy to wear for both work and leisure, this model allows you to naturally enjoy the unique design sensibilities of MATSUDA.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand founded in 1989 by fashion brand “NICOLE” founder Mitsuhiro Matsuda, a designer who led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the “Top Designer Six (TD6).”

Drawing on the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated as a fashion designer, the brand fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining highly advanced craftsmanship by skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, MATSUDA creates eyewear with the meticulousness of art pieces and an overwhelming presence.

The brand is characterized by delicate metalwork and a profound, three-dimensional structural expression. Its original designs, reminiscent of Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, have earned high acclaim worldwide not merely as vision correction devices, but as “wearable art pieces.”

In the 1990s, the brand gained strong support overseas after being worn by Hollywood movie stars and renowned artists. Its unique worldview and overwhelming sculptural beauty captivated many celebrities and fashion icons, propelling the name MATSUDA to global recognition.

Although the brand was temporarily suspended afterward, it was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While inheriting the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, it now develops collections that incorporate contemporary sensibilities.

Unswayed by the times or trends, MATSUDA continues to uphold its unique aesthetic. Its eyewear, a fusion of Japanese craftsmanship and fashion culture, continues to captivate eyewear enthusiasts around the world.
