The "M3173" is a minimalist metal-frame design featuring a hexagonal shape.

While retaining the distinctive character of a polygon, the vertical and horizontal proportions have been carefully balanced to create a shape that is neither overly bold nor out of place, allowing it to blend naturally with the face.

The slim rims are delicately engraved with a traditional arabesque pattern, complemented by fine detailing on the temples. At first glance, the design appears sleek and understated, but a closer look reveals the meticulous craftsmanship and distinctive details characteristic of MATSUDA.

A notable feature is the bridge, which extends from the front and back of the rims to overlap. Its unique, three-dimensional lines are also engraved, providing a subtle accent to the simple front design.

Col. AG is a rich antique gold. Its subdued tone highlights the delicate engravings and adds a touch of classic elegance. The understated gold color makes it easy to incorporate into everyday outfits.

A pair that combines a distinctive hexagonal shape with an understated style that fits seamlessly into everyday wear. Versatile enough for both work and leisure, this model allows you to naturally enjoy the unique design sensibilities of MATSUDA.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand founded in 1989 by fashion brand “NICOLE” founder Mitsuhiro Matsuda, a designer who led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the “Top Designer Six (TD6).”

Drawing on the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated as a fashion designer, the brand fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining highly advanced craftsmanship by skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, MATSUDA creates eyewear with the meticulousness of art pieces and an overwhelming presence.

The brand is characterized by delicate metalwork and a profound, three-dimensional structural expression. Its original designs, reminiscent of Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, have earned high acclaim worldwide not merely as vision correction devices, but as “wearable art pieces.”

In the 1990s, the brand gained strong support overseas after being worn by Hollywood movie stars and renowned artists. Its unique worldview and overwhelming sculptural beauty captivated many celebrities and fashion icons, propelling the name MATSUDA to global recognition.

Although the brand was temporarily suspended afterward, it was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While inheriting the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, it now develops collections that incorporate contemporary sensibilities.

Unswayed by the times or trends, MATSUDA continues to uphold its unique aesthetic. Its eyewear, a fusion of Japanese craftsmanship and fashion culture, continues to captivate eyewear enthusiasts around the world.
