This piece combines a clean metal frame with a substantial bridge and intricate detailing.

With a compact 46mm lens width, it adopts an exceptionally narrow vertical silhouette, even for an oval shape. It transforms the increasingly popular narrow oval style into a design with the distinct presence characteristic of MATSUDA. Its clean, horizontally elongated balance and rounded contours add both sharpness and softness to the eyes.

The design was inspired by folding eyewear that MATSUDA created in the past. Inheriting that aesthetic, the thick, robust bridge is adorned with delicate engraving. Positioned at the center of the small front frame, the powerful form and intricate decoration stand out.

The temples feature a textured pattern created using a specialized printing technique. This three-dimensional decoration, consisting of fine, continuous diagonal lines, creates subtle shadows depending on how the light hits it, adding a rich expression to the profile.

The color AS-MNV features a combination of antique silver and matte navy. The deep navy bordering the front of the rim sharpens the oval outline, creating a refined and composed look alongside the weathered tone of the antique silver.

The lenses are a subdued blue. This shade blends naturally with the navy rims, bringing a sense of unity to the front and lending a clean impression to the eyes.

This piece condenses MATSUDA’s signature powerful form and delicate ornamentation into a compact silhouette.

MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand founded in 1989 by fashion brand “NICOLE” founder Mitsuhiro Matsuda, a designer who led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the “Top Designer Six (TD6).”

Drawing on the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated as a fashion designer, the brand fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining highly advanced craftsmanship by skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, MATSUDA creates eyewear with the meticulousness of art pieces and an overwhelming presence.

The brand is characterized by delicate metalwork and a profound, three-dimensional structural expression. Its original designs, reminiscent of Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, have earned high acclaim worldwide not merely as vision correction devices, but as “wearable art pieces.”

In the 1990s, the brand gained strong support overseas after being worn by Hollywood movie stars and renowned artists. Its unique worldview and overwhelming sculptural beauty captivated many celebrities and fashion icons, propelling the name MATSUDA to global recognition.
