The "M3169" is a sunglass model featuring side shields that strongly reflect the brand's aesthetic.

Based on a classic oval shape, it combines three-dimensional metalwork with delicate ornamental detailing to create a piece imbued with the weight and elegance signature to MATSUDA.

The distinctive side shields, finished in cloisonné enamel, showcase a beautiful, glossy navy color that changes its expression depending on how the light hits it, adorning the eyes like stained glass. They serve not merely as decoration, but as a detail that adds depth to the profile, exuding a striking presence.

The temples feature a design that incorporates the brand's initial "M" motif in a three-dimensional arrangement. This creates shadows depending on the angle, subtly evoking a sense of luxury when worn.

The color scheme is based on a refined gold, paired with deep blue lenses. It evokes a sense of sex appeal and sophistication within a classic atmosphere, blending naturally with any styling.

Furthermore, the temple ends are also finished with navy cloisonné enamel, ensuring a sense of cohesion throughout the design. It is a piece that allows you to fully enjoy the high level of craftsmanship unique to Japanese manufacturing, meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand founded in 1989 by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the designer who founded the fashion brand “NICOLE” and led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the “Top Designers Six (TD6).”

Drawing on the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated during his career as a fashion designer, Matsuda fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining the exquisite craftsmanship of skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, the brand creates eyewear with the meticulous detail and commanding presence of works of art.

The brand is defined by delicate metalwork and substantial, three-dimensional construction. Its original designs, evoking Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, transcend mere vision correction to earn worldwide acclaim as “wearable art.”

In the 1990s, the brand gained widespread support overseas after being worn by Hollywood movie stars and renowned artists. Its distinctive worldview and striking sculptural beauty captivated many celebrities and fashion icons, propelling MATSUDA to global fame.

Although the brand was temporarily suspended, it was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While upholding the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the brand now offers collections that incorporate a contemporary sensibility.

Unswayed by the passage of time or prevailing trends, MATSUDA remains steadfast in its unique aesthetic. Its eyewear, a fusion of Japanese craftsmanship and fashion culture, continues to captivate eyewear enthusiasts around the world.
