The "M3169" is a sunglass model featuring side shields that deeply reflect the brand's world view.

Based on a classic oval shape, it combines three-dimensional metalwork with delicate decorative flourishes to create a piece that exudes the profound sense of quality and elegance characteristic of MATSUDA.

The distinctive side wind guards, finished in cloisonné, feature a beautiful, translucent orange color that brings to mind stained glass, coloring the eye area. They serve not merely as decoration, but as a detail that gives depth to the profile, radiating presence.

The temples feature a design that incorporates the brand's initial "M" motif in a three-dimensional pattern. It creates shadows depending on the angle, subtly projecting a luxurious atmosphere when worn.

The color scheme is based on a subdued antique gold, paired with soft green lenses. The combination of the warm texture unique to antique gold and the green lenses lends a touch of allure and sophistication to the classic atmosphere, allowing it to blend naturally into any styling.

Furthermore, the temple ends are also finished with orange cloisonné, resulting in a design that is cohesive down to the finest details. It is a piece that allows you to fully appreciate the high craftsmanship unique to Japan, meticulously crafted in every detail.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand founded in 1989 by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the designer who founded the fashion brand “NICOLE” and led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the “Top Designers Six (TD6).”

Drawing on the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated during his career as a fashion designer, Matsuda fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining the exquisite craftsmanship of skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, the brand creates eyewear with the meticulous detail and commanding presence of works of art.

The brand is defined by delicate metalwork and substantial, three-dimensional construction. Its original designs, evoking Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, transcend mere vision correction to earn worldwide acclaim as “wearable art.”

In the 1990s, the brand gained widespread support overseas after being worn by Hollywood movie stars and renowned artists. Its distinctive worldview and striking sculptural beauty captivated many celebrities and fashion icons, propelling MATSUDA to global fame.

Although the brand was temporarily suspended, it was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While upholding the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the brand now offers collections that incorporate a contemporary sensibility.

Unswayed by the passage of time or prevailing trends, MATSUDA remains steadfast in its unique aesthetic. Its eyewear, a fusion of Japanese craftsmanship and fashion culture, continues to captivate eyewear enthusiasts around the world.
