The "M3101-i" combines MATSUDA's metal frame "M3101" with an acetate inner rim for a refined finish.

The three-dimensionally shaped titanium rims are engraved with the "M+N" motif, symbolizing the brand's history. The engraved parts are hand-colored, beautifully highlighting the delicate patterns and the texture of the metal.

By combining a Japanese-made acetate inner rim on the inside, it inherits the substantial form of the original "M3101" while adding depth and a soft expression to the silhouette.

It is finished as a MATSUDA-style artisanal piece that enhances the material feel of both metal and acetate.

Color BG-MBK is a combination of brushed gold that emits a calm shine and matte black with subdued gloss. The black inner rim stands out clearly against the low-gloss gold, moderately restraining the glamour while giving a sharp and sophisticated impression.

This is a model that combines detailed ornamentation with an easy-to-wear monotone color scheme.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand founded in 1989 by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the designer who founded the fashion brand “NICOLE” and led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the “Top Designers Six (TD6).”

Drawing on the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated during his career as a fashion designer, Matsuda fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining the exquisite craftsmanship of skilled Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, the brand creates eyewear with the meticulous detail and commanding presence of works of art.

The brand is defined by delicate metalwork and substantial, three-dimensional construction. Its original designs, evoking Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, transcend mere vision correction to earn worldwide acclaim as “wearable art.”

In the 1990s, the brand gained widespread support overseas after being worn by Hollywood movie stars and renowned artists. Its distinctive worldview and striking sculptural beauty captivated many celebrities and fashion icons, propelling MATSUDA to global fame.

Although the brand was temporarily suspended, it was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While upholding the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the brand now offers collections that incorporate a contemporary sensibility.

Unswayed by the passage of time or prevailing trends, MATSUDA remains steadfast in its unique aesthetic. Its eyewear, a fusion of Japanese craftsmanship and fashion culture, continues to captivate eyewear enthusiasts around the world.
