The M2078 is a combination frame that makes a striking impression with its clean, horizontally elongated, and slightly narrow square shape.

By combining a refined shape based on straight lines with a low lens height, it achieves a modern look that stands apart from classic square frames. It offers a moderate sense of presence without being overly assertive, making it a design that is easy to incorporate into everyday style.

The front features a subdued matte smoke gray color paired with antique silver metal parts. The soft nuance of the gray blends naturally with the worn-metal texture of the silver, resulting in a monochromatic look with depth.

The uniquely shaped rivet detailing on both ends of the front is one of the signature features of the M2078. Though a small detail, it acts as an accent when viewed from the front, adding the distinctive craftsmanship characteristic of MATSUDA to the simple square shape.

The temples are adorned with delicate engraved patterns, reflecting meticulous craftsmanship even when viewed from the side. Furthermore, the use of spring hinges allows the temples to open flexibly to the width of the face, ensuring a comfortable fit.

This model combines a contemporary balance through its narrow square shape with the fine detailing unique to MATSUDA—such as the rivet decorations and engravings—while also incorporating functionality designed for everyday use.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand established in 1989 by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the founder of the fashion brand "NICOLE" and a designer who led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the "Tokyo Designers 6" (TD6).

With an aesthetic sensibility cultivated as a fashion designer, the brand fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining the highly skilled handiwork of Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, the brand creates eyewear characterized by craftsmanship-like precision and an overwhelming presence.

The brand is defined by its delicate metalwork and substantial, three-dimensional structural expressions. Its unique designs—reminiscent of Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk—have earned high global acclaim not merely as vision-correction tools, but as "art pieces to be worn."

In the 1990s, the brand gained widespread international support after being worn in Hollywood films and by renowned artists. Its unique worldview and breathtaking sculptural beauty captivated numerous celebrities and fashion icons, cementing MATSUDA’s name on the global stage.

Following a brief hiatus, the brand was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While inheriting the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the brand continues to develop collections that incorporate a contemporary sensibility.

Remaining steadfast in its own aesthetic regardless of era or trend, MATSUDA—a fusion of Japanese artisan technique and fashion culture—continues to captivate eyewear enthusiasts around the world.
