The "M2078" is a striking combination frame featuring a sleek, horizontally elongated, and slightly narrow square shape.

The combination of its clean, straight-edged silhouette and a reduced lens height gives it a modern look that sets it apart from classic square frames. The design offers a balanced presence that is impactful without being overwhelming, making it easy to incorporate into your everyday style.

The front features a deep bottle green hue. Pairing this refined green tone with antique gold metal parts creates a colorway that exudes an elegant, sophisticated charm within a classic aesthetic.

The unique rivet detailing on both ends of the front is another signature feature of the M2078. Though a small detail, it acts as a subtle accent when viewed from the front, adding a touch of the distinctive artistry characteristic of MATSUDA to the simple square shape.

The temples are finished with intricate engraving, reflecting a meticulous approach to craftsmanship even when viewed from the side. Furthermore, the inclusion of spring hinges allows the temples to flex comfortably to the width of the face, ensuring a pleasant fit.

This model successfully blends a contemporary balance through its narrow square shape with the fine details synonymous with MATSUDA—such as rivet ornaments and engraving—alongside functionality designed for daily wear.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
MATSUDA is a luxury eyewear brand established in 1989 by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the founder of the fashion brand "NICOLE" and a designer who led the Japanese fashion scene in the 1980s as one of the "Tokyo Designers 6" (TD6).

Drawing on the aesthetic sensibilities cultivated throughout his career as a fashion designer, the brand fuses classic, avant-garde, and architectural elements. By combining the highly skilled handiwork of Japanese artisans with carefully selected materials such as titanium and acetate, MATSUDA creates eyewear that possesses the meticulous detail of a craft object and an overwhelming sense of presence.

The brand is defined by its delicate metalwork and substantial, three-dimensional structural expression. With unique designs reminiscent of Victorian culture, Art Deco, and even steampunk, these frames transcend mere vision-correcting instruments, earning international acclaim as "wearable art."

In the 1990s, the brand gained significant popularity overseas after being featured in Hollywood films and worn by renowned artists. Its distinct worldview and stunning sculptural beauty captivated numerous celebrities and fashion icons, cementing MATSUDA’s status on the global stage.

Following a brief hiatus, the brand was revived in 2011 by a new design team. While inheriting the philosophy and craftsmanship established by Mitsuhiro Matsuda, the brand continues to develop collections that incorporate a contemporary sensibility.

Remaining steadfast in its unique aesthetic regardless of trends or eras, MATSUDA continues to captivate eyewear enthusiasts around the world with its fusion of Japanese artisanal technique and fashion culture.
