Known as the author of Victor Hugo, the poet and novelist Victor Hugo was a defining figure in French literature. He led the Romantic movement and had a profound influence on politics and society. The model name “HUGO” pays tribute to his ideals and distinctive character.

Crafted generously from 8 mm-thick acetate, this pair fully brings out the distinctive presence of the crown-panto shape. The sharply defined cuts across the front create a look that is both bold and refined, lending the face a clear, defined outline.

Meanwhile, the lower rims and lens shapes feature softer, rounded contours, striking a fine balance that keeps the design from feeling too rugged. Its substantial build is matched by an unmistakably intellectual and elegant presence.

The hinges are made of brass, a material often used in vintage eyewear. The patina that develops with wear is another of this model’s appealing details. At the joint, the frame and hinges are assembled before being cut diagonally together using an advanced technique—a testament to the artisan’s skill in seamlessly finishing materials of different hardness.

Piano Black acetate further accentuates HUGO’s bold sculptural beauty, creating a poised presence that feels both classic and refined. A highly accomplished pair that works with any style while making a statement of its own.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
Founded in 1921 in Oyonnax, in the Jura region of France, the brand emerged from a town renowned for its comb production. As celluloid gained popularity, Max Pittion transformed his father’s comb factory into an eyewear manufacturing facility called "Pittion Lunetterie" and established the brand.

Dedicated to quality and unique coloring, he grew the company into a world-class eyewear manufacturer in a single generation. He was also instrumental in the founding of SILMO, one of the world's largest international eyewear trade fairs, leaving a significant impact on the industry.

In the 1960s and 70s, Max Pittion's sophisticated designs gained popularity among artists and actors, earning global recognition. However, at the height of this success, the brand announced a hiatus.

In 2023, his son, Bernard Pittion, entrusted the revival of the brand to Tommy O'Gara of The LIGHT Co., Ltd., who faithfully recreated the original designs.

Since then, the brand has been producing the highest quality eyewear through the collaboration of artisans in Sabae, Fukui, Japan, and a French team.
