The "Suisen" (Narcissus) is a Wellington frame that adds a powerful impression to the eyes with its linear brow line and substantial, sculpted form.

The front is crafted from 10mm thick acetate. The area around the lenses is beveled at an angle, creating a "television cut" reminiscent of vintage CRT monitors. The recessed lenses and sharply defined transitions create deep shadows, a design that allows the thickness of the frame to be felt even from the front.

After the front is polished once, it undergoes further cutting and is finished with careful hand-polishing by artisans. The crisp contours and glossy texture bring a refined expression to the voluminous form.

The ends of the front are adorned with rivet decorations featuring the "Kasumi" (mist) motif, a traditional Japanese pattern. The front and thick temples are connected by a seven-barrel hinge, creating a robust structure that supports the substantial form.

Col. S2 T Tort is a colorway combining a slightly yellowish tortoiseshell pattern with gold-colored metal parts. The distinct mottling gives the frame a rich character, with the warm tones harmonizing elegantly with the brilliance of the gold. The wire core embedded in the temples features an engraving inspired by traditional Japanese transom (ranma) architecture, breathing a sense of delicate beauty into every detail.

A pair that breathes with bold artistry, traditional Japanese motifs, and the meticulous craftsmanship of Sabae.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
TANABIKU is a Japanese eyewear brand born in 2025. Taking its name from the word “aitai,” which once meant eyeglasses, the brand expresses the aesthetic sensibilities passed down through generations in Japan in the form of contemporary eyewear.

Bold contours and surfaces that change expression in the light. The appeal of TANABIKU lies in its three-dimensional design, reminiscent of a single sculpture. In addition to its strength when viewed from the front, the curves and shadows that emerge as the viewing angle changes give the frames depth.

Breathing life into this design is a sensibility rooted in Japanese landscapes and traditional architecture. This is reflected in iconic details such as rivets featuring a mist-like pattern and temple core carvings reminiscent of ranma transom panels. By layering meticulous craftsmanship within bold forms, the brand achieves both a striking presence and refined elegance.

The eyewear is crafted by artisans in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. Handwork that shapes the contours, polishes the surfaces, and refines every detail supports its beauty. Rooted in the tradition of Japanese craftsmanship, the brand offers eyeglasses designed to be enjoyed for years while worn every day.
