The "Suisen" is a Wellington frame that adds a powerful impression to the eyes with its linear browline and substantial, thick design.

The front is crafted from 10mm thick acetate by Takiron. The area around the lenses is beveled inward in a "television cut," reminiscent of vintage CRT monitors. The recessed lenses and sharp transitions between planes create deep shadows, a design that allows the thickness of the frame to be felt even from the front.

The front is polished once, then undergoes a second round of cutting, with the final finish carefully hand-polished by artisans. The sharp edges of the silhouette and the glossy texture give the voluminous form a refined expression.

Both ends of the front feature rivet decorations inspired by the traditional Japanese "Kasumi" (mist) pattern. The front and the thick temples are connected by a seven-barrel hinge, creating a robust structure that supports the substantial frame.

Col. S2 Black is a colorway where lustrous black is accented by silver-colored metal parts. Through the transparent sections of the temples, one can glimpse the engraved core metal, which is modeled after the transoms of traditional Japanese architecture, adding a delicate beauty to the power of the black.

This is a piece where bold design breathes with traditional Japanese aesthetics and the meticulous craftsmanship of Sabae.

Patterns and colours may vary slightly between individual frames and from the images shown.

About the brand
Brand logo
TANABIKU is a Japanese eyewear brand born in 2025. Taking its name from the archaic Japanese word for glasses, “aitai,” the brand expresses the aesthetic sensibilities passed down through generations in Japan in the form of contemporary eyewear.

Bold contours and surfaces that change expression in the light. The appeal of TANABIKU lies in its three-dimensional design, reminiscent of a single sculpture. In addition to its strength when viewed from the front, the curves and shadows that emerge with every change in angle give the frames depth.

Breathing life into this design is a sensibility rooted in Japanese landscapes and traditional architecture. This is reflected in iconic details such as rivets featuring misty patterns and temple core carvings reminiscent of ranma transom panels. By layering meticulous craftsmanship within its bold forms, the brand achieves both a striking presence and refined elegance.

The eyewear is crafted by artisans in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. Handwork that shapes the contours, polishes the surfaces, and refines every detail supports its beauty. Rooted in the tradition of Japanese craftsmanship, the brand offers glasses designed to be enjoyed for years as part of your everyday life.
